Stuart Claxton, Anne Burrell‘s husband, reportedly found the late chefโs “cold, unconscious body on the shower floor Tuesday morning before first respondersย pronounced her dead.
Law enforcement sources claimed Claxton last saw Anne alive at 1 a.m. He discovered her body in their Brooklyn home around 7:50 a.m.,ย as per reports from TMZ.
Claxton proceeded to call 911 and was allegedly advised to perform CPR on the Food Network star. Unfortunately, Anne’s body was cold by that time. It remains unclear as to whether the life-saving measure was ever performed.

Chef Anne Burrell passed away on the morning of Tuesday, June 17, in her Brooklyn home. The Food Network star was 55.
What we know so far …
A New York Police Department spokesperson told Page Six, the celebrity chef was found unconscious at her Brooklyn home Tuesday morning,
The 911 caller claimed she went into โcardiac arrestโ and was โDOA,โ a rep for the New York City Fire Department told Page Six.
The 55-year-oldโs cause of death has not been revealed and an investigation is ongoing.
Reps for the star announced Anne’s death in a statement obtained by PEOPLE.
About Anne:
“Anne was a beloved wife, sister, daughter, stepmother, and friend โ her smile lit up every room she entered,” her family said in a statement. “Anneโs light radiated far beyond those she knew, touching millions across the world. Though she is no longer with us, her warmth, spirit, and boundless love remain eternal.”
She is survived by her husband, Stuart Claxton, his son, her mother, sister, brother, and three children. Anne and Stuart met on Bumble in 2018.
“I have to say, I love being married. We’re together all the time because Stuart works from home. It’s the being together all the time, but it’s also the adventure together.”
Anne’s career:
Food Network audiences first met Anne as a sous chef on Iron Chef America. Her charisma and culinary chops led to her own Emmy-nominated show, Secrets of a Restaurant Chef, which premiered in 2008 and ran for nine seasons.
From there, Chef Anne became Food Network staple, also appearing on Chef Wanted, Chopped, Food Network Star.
Anne was best known as the longtime host of Worst Cooks in America, where her passion for food and mentorship turned disastrous kitchen hopefuls into capable cooks.
Most recently, Anne was on the competition series House of Knives, which premiered in March 2025.
