Dylan Efron and Boston Rob Mariano‘s friendship began on The Traitors US, moved to the real world, and has evolved into a YouTube show around their common passion … competing.
Boston Rob and Dylan star in Everything’s a Competition, a series that sees the two men facing off through a series of unpredictable obstacles.
What to expect:
After developing a close friendship on the set of The Traitors, the new friends were approached by several networks to do a project together. Since producing and creating content for YouTube is Dylan’s “bread and butter,” the two came up with an idea that tapped into their own friendly competitiveness.
“We’re always competing in the dumbest things against each other. So we were just like, ‘Man, this would be a great show.’” They ultimately landed on YouTube as it felt the most “authentic” for them as creators.
“We’re seeing where this can go, how big we want to scale this [and] all the opportunities we can do through that,” he adds of his YouTube series, which premiered on Dec. 11 and will include weekly releases.
The bromance:
According to the season 34 Dancing With the Stars finalist, Rob’s best qualities aren’t seen on-camera. “You see him on TV, he’s a cutthroat, he always has this strategy.”
“In real life, he is exactly the same. He loves strategy, but his heart is huge.”
“He was texting me every day [during DWTS]. We talked on the phone like almost every show day. That was kind of a ritual. I was like, ‘All right. When I didn’t talk to him, I didn’t do that well.’ So, I’d call him every day before the show.”
“He’d show up to as many shows as he can, and he’s just there to support.
Once you’re in with Rob, you’re in. That’s what [makes] him so appealing as a friend.”
