Bethenny Frankel took to TikTok to congratulate Nene Leakes on her return to Bravo… and remind everyone that the idea was hers first.
“I pitched a road trip show with just Nene and myself,” Bethenny recalled of a conversation she had with a Housewives EP, Matt Anderson.
According to the RHONY alum, the concept followed the duo traveling city to city, meeting each other’s friends, and hitting their favorite U.S. hotspots.
But at the time, Bethenny says the network shut it down — allegedly calling Nene “kryptonite” and “toxic,” and insisting producers could “never touch it.”
Fast forward to now: Bravo has officially announced that Nene will return to the network for Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Roaring 20s.
While she won’t be one of the core Housewives on the trip, Nene will greet the women once their caravan reaches Atlanta.
This marks Nene’s first return to the Bravoverse since her very public lawsuit and fallout with the network.
“It’s just an interesting conversation on how time heals all wounds,” Bethenny said.
“The bridge was not burned.”
Bethenny framed the video as congratulatory, but the subtext was loud.
“When I pitched the show to Nene she said, ‘You keep thinking of these ideas but they don’t happen,’” Bethenny added.
To her credit, Bethenny has talked about this concept publicly.
