Bethenny Frankel shared a personal medical update with her TikTok followers.
“Months ago, I decided I was going to be very proactive about blood tests, bone density — all the things I kept hearing people talk about,” she shared on Thursday, January 22.
“I started taking a series of blood tests, and each time, my kidney function was coming up low.”
The former RHONY star eventually scheduled an appointment with a specialist, where she received her official diagnosis.
“He said to me, ‘You have stage 2 chronic kidney disease,’” Bethenny revealed.
According to Bethenny, the cause isn’t entirely clear.
“He said it could be a function of this traumatic experience I had years ago when I almost died from an allergy attack. It could have done damage to my kidneys. It could be autoimmune.”
Bethenny emphasized she’s not sharing her story to alarm anyone — but to encourage people to stay on top of their health.
“Maybe I’ll have to deal with this forever,” she said.
“But I wanted to tell you because I think it’s important to get all your blood work done and follow up on anything that seems like an outlier.”
ICYMI: In December 2018, Bethenny was hospitalized after suffering a severe allergic reaction to fish. At the time, she revealed she nearly died after eating a cup of soup.
