Bravo TV‘s Andy Cohen brought three of the guys from Southern Charm to meet and have dinner with John Mayer.
The singer/songwriter/musician had an interesting reaction to Craig Conover, Shep Rose, and Austen Kroll‘s energy.
The Southern Charmers were in for an unexpected treat when they met Julia Roberts and Diane Sawyer as they were leaving the restaurant!
A rockstar, a late night TV host, and three southerners walk into a bar …
Andy described Shep, Craig, and Austen’s behavior upon meeting John Mayer.
“They sit down, and immediately they are wild together. They start getting into it about something. I’m like, ‘You guys, the dining room is low-key. It’s fancy. There’s a piano. [It’s] Elegant and sophisticated. I go, ‘You guys, bring it down.’ Austen tried to wrangle the other boys, ‘Be quiet, you guys!'”
“John is now asking them questions about the show that he’s never seen. He’s trying to figure it out. Craig is like, ‘They film it like a movie.'” Andy called Craig out. “What?! They film it like a movie?! There’s a lot of misinformation going around. It was so funny.”
“At some point, Austen turns to John about an hour in and goes, ‘What do you think of us?’ I was wondering the same myself. John goes, ‘I think that the three of you have the most chaotic energy of almost anyone I’ve ever been around. I do not understand your speech patterns. I’m not disinterested, but it’s a level of chaos. I don’t understand their rhythms.'”
A pair of legends enter:
“At the next table was my friends Julia Roberts and Diane Sawyer.” On the way in, Andy asked Julia if she watched Southern Charm. “Sometimes,” she answered. Andy invited her to his table to say hi.
“Here she comes. I say, ‘Hey, guys. I want you to meet my friend, Julia. They all turn around, and there is Julia Roberts. These guys are such southern gentlemen. They all three stand up as quickly as they can. They rise to bow to royalty.”
“Then Diane Sawyer blows them away and says to each of them, ‘Hi. I’m Diane Sawyer.’ They were like, ‘Oh my god.'”
John and Andy went their separate ways for the night, so Andy stopped at a bar near his home. There, he found Austen, Craig, and Shep. “We had a very spirited debrief of the night. They were in very funny form.”
If you watch the show, you are probably wondering How does that leave things with Craig and Austen? I will say, you really have to watch the reunion. They are able to be around each other, but it is a more than fraught relationship.
