Star Search is coming back to TV – with an updated judges’ panel and host.
For those of you who missed the original version, Star Search was a televised talent show that aired from 1983 to 1995.
Star Search’s iconic host Ed McMahon witnessed some of today’s most notable acts in their earliest days of performing, including Beyoncé, Aaliyah, Adam Sandler, and Britney Spears.
Star Search 2026:
Stepping into the very large shoes of Ed McMahon is comedian Anthony Anderson, best known for Black-ish and Law & Order.
Rapper Jelly Roll, Actress Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Model Chrissy Teigen were announced as judges for Netflix‘s new show, but it is still unknown if the judges’ panel will rotate through various celebrities and industry insiders like the original show did.
Netflix’s reboot premieres January 20th on Netflix and will feature real-time viewer voting that lets fans help decide which contestants move forward.
The network promised in the logline, “the talent is bigger than ever … and the stakes have never been higher.”
