Discovery Channel is taking viewers behind the scenes of one of Las Vegas’ most iconic casinos with its new reality series, Secret Life of a Vegas Casino.
The drama-filled series follows the front-line employees at Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino as they navigate the controlled chaos of Sin City.
What to expect:
PEOPLE’s exclusive first look shows what happens after guests leave the casino floor, from security emergencies and disruptive visitors to high-stakes gamblers and unexpected staff drama.
“Every weekend, tens of thousands of people pass through the Golden Nugget, in the heart of downtown Vegas,” a voiceover explains in the clip.
Located along the iconic Fremont Street Experience, the four-star resort attracts gamblers and tourists around the clock. But while guests may only see the bright lights, slot machines, and casino floor, the series will reveal the employees working behind the scenes to keep everything running.
“Most guests, all they see is a casino floor,” one security guard says. “But what they don’t see is the people responsible for keeping order in the middle of chaos.”
That includes surveillance, housekeeping, VIP hosts, managers and security, all of whom are put to the test throughout the series.
The trailer:
The first-look footage features guests being handcuffed and escorted through the property, security responding to a broken glass window and employees dealing with increasingly unruly visitors. In one tense moment, a guest appears to throw a drink at a security guard before being told, “Okay, now you’re under arrest.”
Security guards are also seen racing through hotel hallways and breaking up altercations between guests.
“In Vegas, whatever happens behind the scenes usually stays behind the scenes — but not this time,” Golden Nugget Las Vegas manager Cindy O’Keefe says. Another staff member adds, “We’re opening doors to areas that guests never get to go.”
Beyond the drama, Secret Life of a Vegas Casino will also explore the relationships between the employees who have spent years working together and relying on one another through some of the casino’s most unpredictable situations.
With gambling, high-stakes decisions, unruly guests, and plenty of behind-the-scenes Vegas madness, the new series promises to show viewers a side of Sin City they don’t normally get to see.
Secret Life of a Vegas Casino premieres Tuesday, Sept. 29 at 9 pm on Discovery Channel.
