Scheana Shay’s name is good as gold.
The Vanderpump Rules alum took to her podcast, Scheananigans, and answered an age old question — why does she still go by Shay?
Fans wondered why the Apples singer opted to go by “Shay” on the cover of her upcoming memoir, My Good Side.
“I don’t know how many times I’m going to have to address this,” she begins her defense.
What’s in a name?
“I have built a professional career as Scheana Shay,” she says on her January 31st episode.
The VPR star expressed her frustrations with how changing your last name only affects women. Traditionally, men don’t have the annoyance of changing documents, drivers license, or potentially their entire brand when they get married.
In hindsight, the reality star revealed she maybe shouldn’t have changed her professional name when she married Mike Shay in 2014. But, she didn’t anticipate the couple not working out at the time.
The couple later divorced in 2016.
The former SURver attempted to rebrand to “Scheana Marie”, but unfortunately didn’t find as much success without the alliteration.
However, regardless of her last name, she proudly boasts the title as Brock Davies’ wife.
“I am Scheana Davies, I am Mrs. Davies. We are the Davies family.”
“It genuinely does not bother Brock that I use this name. And also, I did recently have lunch with [Mike] and I asked him point blank. And it does not bother him either. So if it doesn’t bother the ex-husband, it doesn’t bother the current husband, again, I don’t know why it bothers all of you.”
Personally, I do not blame Scheana for keeping her former name. It works, and why fix whats not broken?
