Congressman Seth Magaziner is under attack for hosting a Real Housewives of Rhode Island premiere party during the government shutdown.
While the RI rep understands the optics of him hosting a Real Housewives’ premiere party during the government shutdown is bad, he’s placing blame on the guy who sent the House of Representatives packing for this two-week recess, House Speaker Mike Johnson.
Team RHORI:
In a video for The Providence Journal, Rep Seth detailed how he hoped RHORI would encourage Bravoholics to visit the smallest state with the biggest drama. “I mostly want to see how our state is showcased.”
“This could be an opportunity for people all across the world to see Rhode Island as a place that is beautiful, fun, and good to visit.”
For the record, Magaziner said he would skip the premiere party if the government would have reopened.
Rep Seth shouldn’t be in this situation in the first place:
On TMZ Live, the Rhode Island Congressman said MAGA Mike never should have sent everyone home without voting on a bill to end the partial shutdown, which left thousands of federal employees working without pay.
Rep. Magaziner says he’s ready get back to work, if Speaker Johnson makes the call. He says there’s a bipartisan deal on the table that can make this all go away, but explains why it hasn’t been passed …
“Congress is being paid for their two-week vacation while other federal workers go without. If Congress had its pay taken away during a shutdown, we wouldn’t see this scenario playing out over and over again.”
