Porsha Williams is opening up about her fertility journey.
The RHOA star appeared on CBS Mornings and revealed doctors discovered 21 uterine fibroids in May, including one she said had grown to the size of a cantaloupe.
Sadly, the discovery came around the same time Porsha began considering expanding her family.
“I’ve always fantasized about having a little boy, or maybe a little sister for her,” she told Gayle King, referring to her 7-year-old daughter, Pilar.
Porsha had accompanied a friend to an appointment at a fertility clinic and decided to get herself checked while she was there.
“She started looking into doing the exam and she went silent,” Porsha recalled.
“And I looked at the screen and all I could see was black, and then I started seeing some circular lines. And I was like, ‘Not again. Not again.’”
The specialist sent her for an MRI within hours and scheduled surgery for approximately two weeks later.
ICYMI: Porsha was first diagnosed with fibroids in her late 20s while experiencing fertility issues.
After becoming pregnant, doctors discovered a fibroid that they initially believed might degenerate as her pregnancy progressed.
However, it continued to grow, and Porsha ultimately lost the baby at four months.
She subsequently underwent a myomectomy, a procedure that removes uterine fibroids while preserving the uterus, as well as fibroid embolization.
