SURvers Natalie Maguire and Marcus Johnson were guests on the Mention It All podcast to discuss their new reality as reality TV stars.
A struggle they’ve already faced lies in comparison to the OG cast.
Comparison is the thief of joy:
Natalie began with her version of the adage: “The thing that’s driven me crazy is when people are like, ‘They’re trying so hard.'” She refuted, “I’m like, ‘We ain’t trying.'”
Marcus agreed. “You haven’t even seen us yet. What do you mean we’re trying too hard?!”
The host, Dylan Hafer, mentioned that VPR fans are trying to find who correlate the new cast with the OGs, like Scheana Shay.
Marcus was quick to clap back to the haters. “No really YOU want to be Scheana. You’re just mad because I’m here right now, b*tch. You ain’t.”
“It’s hard to get up there and do it,” concluded Natalie.
Former VPR star Lala Kent entered the chat:
Last month, SUR’s former hostess encouraged the VanderVerse to extend kindness to the rebooted cast. “You guys. I heard [season 12 of VPR is] really good. I hope everyone gives [the new VPR] a chance.”
“Here’s the thing,” continued Lala. “I’m sure the cast is very excited, but also freaking out. I’m sure they’re getting a lot of hate right now.”
“So please congratulate these people. They’re young, wild, and free in LA. They’re just having a good time and got asked to be on a TV show. Freaking awesome. Be happy for them.”
“It’s not going to be how it was with us. It’s going to be new and different. So just take it for what it is. Sit back and enjoy,” added Lala.
