Former First Lady Michelle Obama chatted with actress Quinta Brunson on the IMO podcast, who asked Michelle about reality TV, specifically, Love Island USA.
“Yeah, I do,” watch Love Island. “Malia and Sasha, that’s mother-daughter time” for us.
Apparently, Malia and Sasha got their mom completely hooked on the show as a bonding experience. Since then, Michelle has gotten so invested that she is now ahead of her daughters on the current season. She’s currently waiting for them to catch up. “And they’re behind. They got me hooked. And I was like, if you started the next season, and they were like, no, we’re busy.”
Reality TV isn’t mindless entertainment for Michelle. “I consider [watching reality TV] part of my major, sociology. It’s just a study of people. And they are fascinating to me.”
Earlier this year, Michelle confessed that she’s an enthusiastic fan of Real Housewives of New Jersey. On her podcast, the former First Lady was asked about Real Housewives “scenes that stand out.”
“Of course, Teresa Giudice’s table flip. You know, ‘Prostitution whore.’” Michelle reenacted the scene, beating the table and yelling, “‘Prostitution whore!’ She flipped the table.”
After revealing how much she loves Jersey housewives, she dug deeper into the drama. “New Jersey is going through some stuff right now.”
Teresa Giudice and her brother Joe [Gorga] are central, but they haven’t been getting along. It wasn’t even clear that they were going to film together. And it got ugly.”
Michelle noted that Teresa and Joe’s spouses are also on the show, which made it more complicated. “But I think they are filming. It’s a good one because the Jersey folks don’t play.”
