Pop music icons Sir Elton John and Madonna squashed their beef after over two decades of feuding.
Never forget that over the years Sir Elton called Madonna out for lip syncing, compared her to a “fairground stripper,” and ranked ‘Die Another Day’ the “worst Bond tune ever.”
From the desk of Madonna:
“We Finally Buried the Hatchet,” exclaimed the Vogue songstress. “I went to seeย @eltonjohnย perform on SNL this weekend!! WOW.”
Madonna thought back to when she was in high school. “I snuck out of the house one night to see Elton perform live in Detroit! It was an unforgettable performance that helped me understand the transformative power of music.”
This was a transformational night for the Material Girl. “Seeing [Sir Elton John] perform when I was in high school changed the course of my life. I had always felt like an outsider growing up and watching him on stage helped me to understand that it was OK to be different-to stand out- to take the road, less traveled by. In fact, it was essential.”
“Over the decades it hurt me to know that someone I admired so much shared his dislike of me publicly as an artist. I didnโt understand it. I was told Elton John was the musical guest on SNL and I decided to go.” Madonna knew, “I needed to go backstage and confront him.
“When I met him, the first thing out of his mouth was, โForgive Meโ and the wall between us fell down. Forgiveness is a powerful tool. Within minutes. We were hugging.”
“Then he told me had written a song for me and he wanted to collaborate. It was like everything came full circle!! And you can tell everybody, This is Your Songโฆโฆโฆ.๐๐ฉต๐ฉถ๐ค.”
Madonna share her Instagram post to her story paired with Sir Elton John’s ‘Your Song’ (one of my personal favs!)
A Madonna beef that I don’t see getting squashed anytime soon …
Never forget that Broadway icon Patti LuPone dragged Madonna for trash on Watch What Happens Live for her performance in the film Evita in 2017.
This time, I don’t think Patti will apologize (and I love her for it!)
