The subject of Netflix‘s The Crash, Mackenzie Shirilla, has been called “hell on wheels,” but that moniker is nowhere near as vile as the nickname she adopted in the clink … ‘Shirilla the Killa.’
Mackenzie was found guilty of the murders of Dominic Russo, 21, and Davion Flanagan, 19, and is currently serving her sentence of 15 years to life.
Her prison girlfriend, Shyann Topping, told The US Sun about Mackenzie’s high hopes for her post-prison life.
What’s in a name?
Shyann told the tabloid about her interactions with Mackenzie in Ohio’s Reformatory for Women. “We started talking and she told me her nickname was ‘Shirilla the killa.’ Like, that’s what her bunkmates called her.”
If you saw The Crash, it was clear that Mackenzie was difficult, to say the least. Shyann declared she was a demanding girlfriend. “If we did argue, it’s because I didn’t come outside on time. And she’s like, ‘I was waiting for you. Where were you? Like, if this is how it’s gonna go, I just won’t talk to you,’” the now-released Shyann explained.
In the two weeks the women dated, Mackenzie declared her love to Shyann. “Mackenzie was upset that I was leaving. She would tell me all the time, ‘I wish we had met sooner, before you were about to get out. I wish you would have talked before this.’”
Looking ahead:
According to Shyann, Mackenzie had big plans for post-prison life. “She said she was just gonna live it [up] if she gets out. Like, she’s gonna go back to concerts. She’s gonna travel.”
Mackenzie wants to be “an influencer and write a book when she gets out about everything that happened.”
Shyann added, “She said it might take some time, but she’s gonna get out and live it again.”
