Summer House‘s Kyle Cooke told Page Six how he supported his wife, Amanda Batula, when she was battling depression.
Team Kymanda:
โI think sometimes people not only need support but they almost need a push in a certain direction.” Kyle explained, โWhen she opened up, we werenโt positive she was on the right medication. So, I helped find another doctor.โ
Amanda thanked Kyle for his support, โHeโs been super helpful,โ before teasing him … โfor the most part.โ
Kyle was able to relate, as he went on antidepressants when he was a teenager. โI remember it like yesterday,โ revealed Kyle. โIt was ninth grade. There was a period of time when I felt very lost, very depressed.โ
He noted how medication โcan really help reset.” He also reiterated Amanda’s message that society needs to “remove the stigmaโ around taking antidepressants. DJ Kyle continued, โAs a kid, I would never talk about this. It was something that I was embarrassed about.โ
Amanda’s current status:
While she’s in a much better place mentally, Amanda still has โgood weeksโ and โbad weeks.โ
โI think thatโs just what it will be forever, but Iโm here, so thatโs good,โ she added.
The reality star concluded that despite her journey being a lifelong one, she has found that telling her story to the public has been โsuper rewarding.โ
โI never thought twice about talking about my depression. I donโt know if I realized there was such a negative stigma about it.โ
