The Valley‘s baby population just grew with the addition of Kristen Doute and Luke Broderick‘s first baby, Kaia Lily!
The announcement:
“She’s here, and we still can’t believe it. Luke is even hotter as a dad, and I just feel so lucky,” Kristen gushed to US Weekly. “And even though I haven’t slept or showered in two days, seeing our daughter and finally being able to hold her makes it all worth it. We’re completely overwhelmed with love and so grateful for her. Our lives are already changed completely.”
The engaged couple officially welcomed their newborn on Wednesday, June 11. “The inspiration for Kaia’s name, which is Hawaiian for ‘the sea,’ came from the couple’s affinity for the Aloha State where they ultimately got engaged.”
“We knew we wanted our baby name to have something to do, or revolve around, water. Lilies are my favorite flower. They’re associated with new beginnings, beauty, and also the name Lily indicates a ‘gentle and compassionate nature, suggesting a kind and caring personality.’”
Kristen and Luke’s origin story:
Kaia’s parents began dating after meeting at a friend’s wedding in June 2022. They went public with their relationship that December. The couple got engaged in September 2024 on a cast trip. “It was a total surprise,” Kristen gleamed.
“I knew from the moment we met that Luke was my person. I am so excited to continue this journey together, now as fiancés.” In November 2024, the couple announced were expecting their first baby. The following month, Kristen and Luke revealed they were expecting a baby girl.
The duo “couldn’t be happier” to welcome a daughter, even though she initially believed they were having a boy. “I guessed wrong 100 percent of the time when it came to my friends’ pregnancies. Not shockingly, I wasn’t right for mine either,” she quipped.
Kristen raved that Luke was “made to be a girl dad.”
