Real Housewives of Orange County‘s Katie Ginella took to social media to share that Matt Ginella experienced a recent health scare.
Katie’s Instagram story:
“Four days ago, Matt told me he was having a lot of pain on his side.”
“He went to urgent care and was immediately sent to the ER. They discovered blood clots in his lung and legs,” explained Katie.
“So much pain, tests, and long nights in the hospital. It’s been scary, but we’re beyond grateful for the amazing care at Hoag Health.”
“He’s home now and on the way to recovery.”
Katie gave an update on her marriage last month:
According to Katie, she and Matt are “great.”
“Matt’s really busy with work. He’s been traveling pretty much for the last eight weeks for work. So he’s pretty busy.” The golf lover works as a “travel insider and storyteller.”
Katie met Matt on the golf circuit when she was a golf reporter. Together they have children: one son, Bandon, together. Katie also has three older children from a previous relationship, some of whom live with her and some with their father.

After, Katie Ginella failed a lie detector / polygraph test that asked questions about a past allegation involving Gretchen Rossi & Tamra Judge, Matt got involved.
He came forward with text messages and call logs involving Slade Smiley as part of Katie’s defense. Matt alleged that Slade contacted him. Slade tried to persuade Katie to “take back” the statements about the allegation (that Gretchen said she was roofied on Naked Wasted night).
Slade denied these claims.
