Jennifer Tilly may be new to the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, but she’s no stranger to the wealth that goes along with it.
The difference between the Bride Of Chucky actress and other Real Housewives, Jennifer isn’t defined by her money. In fact, she doesn’t live like others in her tax bracket.
In an interview with E! News, Jennifer explained how she differs from her peers.
Jennifer’s money, honey:
“Number one, I don’t think of myself as rich,” explained Jennifer. “But, I guess I’m delusional because I do have several properties and a purse apparently that cost $33,000.”
“I thought everybody knew that I had a piece of The Simpsons,” the Oscar-nominated actress continued. “It’s not a large piece, but even a little piece is something to write home about.”
And despite owning four homes (one in Las Vegas, a beach house in Malibu and two properties next door to each other in Bel-Air) Tilly insists she lives modestly.
“My boyfriend and I live very simply in a very small, cluttered house.” As RHOBH fans saw on it current 14th season, Jennifer has “a giant house next door. But, we don’t go there. I guess we’re kind of delusional.”
She clarified, “I don’t have a giant mansion or a chauffeur that calls me Miss Tilly and makes out with me like Sutton [Stracke]’s chauffeur. I just live my life the way that I used to live.”
Tilly admitted she was shocked by the public reaction to learning she still receives residuals from The Simpsons to this day, thanks to her late husband, Sam Simon.
“The thing I was astonished by [was that] people thought that that was fabulous,” the Chucky star recounted. “They were like, ‘She has a house next door to her house and she bought a $4,000 dress for her doll.’ They’re like ‘high five.'”
“I thought people would be like, ‘That’s horrible that she spent that much money for a dress for her doll when people are hungry.’ It’s kind of gauche to flaunt your wealth. And money cannot buy you happiness. But, I think the service that Housewives serves is people like to live vicariously through us.”
Can we talk about Jennifer’s boat bag?
As for the rare Louis Vuitton boat purse Jennifer carried earlier this season, she clarified the bag’s true retail price. “It didn’t it cost $33,000, which I’m just setting that straight right now.”
Bravo “must have had some intern look it up. It’s very rare. Maybe on the secondary market, they jacked up the price. But, I called my purse contact and I said, ‘How much did I pay for that purse?’ She said, ‘$22,000.'”
“This is why people love Housewives. They’re so rich and they can afford all the plastic surgeon that the heart could desire and designer clothes and jewels, but they’re still not happy.’ That is the key to Housewives. Like, ‘Wow, if I had all that wealth, I would be happy.'”
“But, these people, they’re miserable. That’s why people like to watch Housewives.”
