Academy Award-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence told Leonardo DiCaprio about one of her first commercial gigs, on MTV’s My Super Sweet 16, on the Actors on Actors series.
JLaw x MTV reality:
From the pits of MTV’s transition from Music Television to reality TV, My Super Sweet 16 was born.
For those fortunate enough to have missed this show, here is IMDB’s synopsis … That frilly sugar-and-spice title notwithstanding, this reality series follows privileged 15-year-olds, usually girls, but there is an occasional guy featured, and their friends as they obsessively plan their Sweet 16 parties. It almost invariably featured an orgy of conspicuous consumerism excess not seen since the heyday of “Dynasty.” More recent episodes expand beyond Sweet Sixteens to include Quinceañeras, debutante balls, ‘Bro Mitzvahs’ and more.
Jennifer, who starred in Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle, revealed to Leo, “I did an MTV promo for My Super Sweet 16.”
“I’m being carried on a chaise lounge, and then they drop me.”
The Catch Me While You Can actor asked for clarity. “But were you in the show?”
“No, I didn’t have the money. It was a promo for the show, playing a fictional rich girl having an over-the-top birthday party.”
Leo loved MTV reality:
As a Leo stan since Growing Pains, I remember learning that he was a big fan of MTV’s The Real World, back in the day.
In 2021, Trishelle Cannatella from Real World: Las Vegas made an appearance on WWHL and confirmed the rumor that lived rent-free in my head for years … Whether or not she hooked up with Leo.
“Let’s just save that for the drinking game,” before taking a sip from her wine glass. WWHL‘s host Andy Cohen gave Trishelle a round of applause after she dropped her revelation before saying, “Yes! Good for you.”
