Real Housewives of Orange County alum Jeana Keough is unable to speak due to her struggles with tongue cancer.
Jeana’s daughter, Kara Bosworth, updated her mom’s fans on her health status via Instagram stories.
“Right now, Jeana isn’t talking. The tongue and throat pain, paired with the mucus from radiation on the area, is just brutal. Poor mama has to spit into tissues all day.”
Kara shared the story of how her family learned of her mom’s diagnosis on GoFundMe. “A few months ago, while visiting [my brother] Shane and me in Florida, my mom mentioned a painful spot on her tongue.”
“She assumed a tooth had been rubbing against it and had even gone to the dentist multiple times to have the tooth filed down.”
The spot had been on her tongue for “nearly a year” when “a biopsy confirmed [their] worst fear: squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue.”
Jeana has already undergone two surgeries, including one to “remove lymph nodes.” Unfortunately, the cancer had already spread. Jeana has been undergoing treatment for more than one month.
Kara’s brother, Shane, told Us Weekly, “She’s strong through this. I think she’ll get cancer to bend to her will, like she does with everything else in life.” The following day, Kara shared a terrifying update. Jeana had to pause treatment after doctors found a deep vein thrombosis (DVT) clot and infection in her leg.
