Former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Garcelle Beauvais proved, yet again, that she’s a class act.
Garcelle interviewed with The Breakfast Club to promote her new film, Taken At A Truck Stop: A Black Girl Missing.
After the interview took a salacious turn, Garcelle – a seasoned professional – got the conversation back on track.
Garcelle on her Real Housewives departure:
“[RHOBH] was great in terms that I got a new audience and there were really wonderful things that happened because of the show. But I think my time was up.” She doesn’t see herself returning “anytime soon.”
Garcelle clarified that contracts and/or money didn’t have a role in her walking away from Bravo’s hit show. “I just couldn’t do it anymore. It was really hurting my spirit. That was really it. I couldn’t physically, mentally, spiritually do it anymore.”
“I’ve been really great about choosing me when I’m faced with something. I’ve done it with relationships; I’ve done it in other places where I felt like, ‘If I don’t choose me, it will probably not work out for me.’ I have faith, and I just knew it was time.”
Garcelle was asked, “Now, what is Sutton going to do without you?”
“Girl, I don’t know,” chuckled Garcelle. “That’s on Sutton.”
The unfollowing:
Garcelle explained that she follows people on Instagram to keep up with people’s lives and share successes. That’s not the place she’s in with the RHOBH cast. So, she unfollowed “all the ladies.”
The actress/Executive Producer explained her rationale. “I just needed space. If they’re not in my life, I don’t see why I need to follow you because I don’t want to see what they’re doing.”
When asked about a specific WWHL episode featuring Bozoma Saint John and Erika Jayne Girardi, Garcelle compared their behavior to “Mean Girls.”
Garcelle didn’t stumble when she said, “That’s all” regarding the gossipy questions.
But one of the hosts wouldn’t let the mouse go.
A class act:
Again, after Garcelle signaled she wanted to move the interview along, she had to explicitly tell the host, “I really don’t want to go back there, honestly.”
“I’m here for my movie. I’m selling shows.”
Garcelle concluded, “I just would like to stay on a positive note.”
