Designer Christian Siriano teased the upcoming season of Project Runway, particularly some BTS tea about host Heidi Klum and judge Law Roach clashing.
US Weekly caught up with Christian on the red carpet at the Tony Awards.
Season 21 Project Runway tea:
The winner-turned-mentor of Project Runway shared his excitement about the new season. “Oh, my God, it’s so good!”
“Heidi [Klum]’s back,” Christian noted. “She’s incredible. She’s so major.” Project Runway judge Nina Garcia is slated to judge alongside franchise newbie, Law Roach.
“Heidi and Law don’t like the same things at all, which makes it really great,” explained Christian.
As far as what Project Runway fans can expect from the show’s newest judge, Christian spilled, “Law doesn’t really like anything, which makes it even better. It’s great.”
Who is Law Roach?
Celebrity stylist Law Roach is best known for working with clients such as Zendaya, Céline Dion, and Anya Taylor-Joy.
You may remember Law Roach from judging on seasons 23-24 of America’s Next Top Model. Additionally, he guest-judged on Project Runway in Season 20, and is a rotating judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race.
Make it work … without Tim Gunn:
Although model Heidi Klum is slated to return as host, her iconic colleague will not be back. After Heidi got the call, she reached out to Tim to see if he was also on board. “Of course, there’s not a moment of hesitation in me.”
Tim Gunn called his agent after months of not hearing from producers. He recalled hearing they “don’t want him.”
“So, I wasn’t asked back.” The producers did offer a cameo to Tim. But, he turned that down: “As Heidi would say, you’re either in or you’re out. And I’m out.”
He was “initially devastated, then kind of humiliated.” But Tim now reflects fondly on his time on the franchise. “I thought, how lucky am I to have had the experiences that I’ve had over the last 20 years?”
Project Runway returns on Thursday, July 31, with a two-episode premiere starting at 9 pm on Freeform. Episodes will be available to stream the next day on Hulu and Disney+.
