Gordon Ramsay is thankful he’s alive after a devastating biking accident where his helmet saved his life. The iconic celebrity Chef was left “shook” and badly bruised, but without any broken bones. The Food Stars host took to his Instagram page to share the details of his accident and give life-saving advice to other bikers.
Chef’s Public Service Announcement:
“I’d like to share a very important message with you,” began Chef Ramsay. “You know how much I love cycling and triathlons. This week, unfortunately, I had a really bad accident. It really shook me. Honestly, I’m lucky to be here. From the incredible trauma surgeons, doctors, and nurses in the hospital that looked after me this week … they were amazing. But, honestly, you’ve got to wear a helmet. I don’t care how short the journey is [or] the fact that these helmets cost money. They’re crucial. Even with the kids, a short journey, they have to wear a helmet. I’m lucky to be standing here. I’m in pain, it’s been a brutal week and I’m sort of getting through it. I cannot tell you the importance of wearing a helmet.”

Chef reiterated his message in his Instagram caption:
“With Father’s Day tomorrow, I have a very important message for all the dads out there. WEAR A HELMET! This week I had a really bad accident while riding my bike in Connecticut. I’m doing OK and did not break any bones or suffer any major issues. But, I am a bit bruised up – looking like a purple potato.”
Gordan said he was “Thankful for all of the doctors, nurses, and staff at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London who looked after me and checked me out. But, [I’m] most thankful for my helmet that saved my life. Have a great Father’s Day and be safe.”
