During an appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Andy Cohen detailed the deep love he and John Mayer have.
Bromance:
Andy explained that he and John “always sit on the same side of the booth.” While they don’t hold hands, they get touchy. “As a matter of fact, we were at The Sunset Tower last week, and I was getting so physical with him by the end that he was like, ‘Andy.’ But, I was kinda using him to tell a story about a guy.”
“We were in a puddle of laughter,” he recounted. “We love each other deeply, we actually do!”
Andy explained, “We love each other,” but it’s not a romantic love. “If I could find a gay guy who was him, it would be magic. But you know what? I’m so grateful for the love that we have.”
Bravo TV‘s exec and the Dead and Company guitarist have been friends for over a decade, with many questioning if there was something romantic between them.
The rumors:
The Watch What Happens Live host addressed the fodder that he and John were romantically involved. “Let them speculate! I honestly love John Mayer, and he loves me.”
“But because we’re so affectionate toward each other, people don’t know what box to put that in. They assume we’re sleeping with each other, which we are most definitely not.”
John himself later slammed the rumors. “People seem dubious that a straight rock star can have a close platonic relationship with a gay TV personality.”
“To suggest that people are dubious of a friendship like mine and Andy’s is to undermine the public’s ability to accept and understand diversity in all facets of culture, be it in art or in real life,” John continued.
“Reinforcing the idea that any gay/straight relationship needs qualification that it’s not sexual devoids everyone involved of their dignity.”
