Summer House turned In the City star Amanda Batula got the hairdo she deserved for the season 10 reunion of Bravo TV’s hit show.
Slightly less diabolical than Amanda dating Ciara Miller’s ex, West Wilson, was the ponytail/bun hybrid she wore to the reunion. Many have called the look lazy, messy, and better suited for doing chores.
However, hairstylist Olivia Halpin is standing by her vision. She posted Amanda Batula’s hairstyle on social media in time for the second part of the three-episode reunion. “The bun you love to hate.”
“We wanted to keep the beauty signature Amanda — effortless, cool, chic,” the hairstylist told Bustle. Olivia said the pony-bun [pun, if I may] “complemented the outfit, required minimal touch-ups, kept her face open and allowed her glam by Laura Mele to shine.”
The hairstylist said it’s been “exciting to see so much conversation,” despite the negativity. “Beauty is subjective, and everyone brings their own perspective, which is part of what makes fashion and beauty so fun. From my perspective, the look was a success because it achieved exactly what we set out to do: create something that felt true to Amanda.”
