Ally Lewber gave insight into what happened with her ex-boyfriend, James Kennedy, last December.
Four months after the incident, Ally told People her version of the events that night and how she is healing in the aftermath.
What went down before the arrest:
Hours before James’ arrest, he and Ally attended Kathy Hilton’s iconic Christmas party, where the astrologer was reading Hilton’s birth chart.
“That was one of the coolest jobs that I’ve gotten to do.” Little did Ally know, “James was drinking behind my back while I was working.”
“When I was finished working and came out to the party, that’s when it was like, ‘Oh, his whole demeanor changed.’ I could kind of tell, like, ‘Have you been drinking?’”
Although she was “suspicious,” Ally trusted James wasn’t drinking. “I truly was like, ‘Well he’s sober, so maybe he, I don’t know, did he drink coffee?’ I was like, ‘Why is he so electric right now?’”
It wasn’t until they got in the car to go home that “it kind of spiraled.” Ally told James, “You’re obviously drunk. He has a sip and it’s pretty easy to spot. His whole demeanor changes.”
Since James knew that “drinking was a non-negotiable” with Ally, she was even more upset in the moment. “The tension was high,” she says. “My friend Jack was with us also, so we’re all just really fighting. James was “gaslighting” Ally. “He’s like, ‘I’m not drunk, you’re drunk.’ And I’m like, ‘No.’”
The scene of the crime:
“When we got out of the Uber, the fighting just continued. I was like, ‘I don’t want to be here.’ We were just fighting outside” of the Burbank home they lived in together.
“I don’t know who called the cops, but the cops showed up. They assessed the situation, and I was not hurt physically. Emotionally, yes. But yeah, that’s kind of how that night played out, unfortunately.”
Prosecutors declined to press charges against the former Vanderpump Rules star after Ally insisted the altercation was only verbal.
