Dancing With the Stars host Alfonso Ribeiro credited Tyra Banks for having to do the work of two hosts while maintaining pandemic protocols during her years hosting DWTS.
Justice for Tyra:
Alfonso sang Tyra’s praises. “I was friends with Tyra; I am still friends with Tyra; I respect Tyra immensely. She’s a wonderful person and performer.”
“Unfortunately for Tyra, she came on the show during COVID. Not having the ability to connect with the celebrities and with the pros. How do you do that?”
“It was always a two-person job. [Then,] it became a one-woman show. Everything was on her to deliver everything when the show wasn’t designed that way.”
“When you break what the core of a show is, you set yourself up for failure. [Tyra] didn’t. The show set her up for failure. There was no way for her to win.”
“You’re following Tom Bergeron, the best host on television. Now you don’t have a co-partner. You don’t have anyone to bounce off of. It’s just you. You can’t have contact with the celebrities, the pros. You’re six feet from them during an interview. Everything about her first two seasons was a setup for failure.”
