TV show host Alan Hamel is dating Joanna Cassidy, the former co-star of his late wife, Suzanne Somers.
Alan confirmed his relationship status with Joanna, since he’s known since the 70s, to Page Six.
Hollyood Wives:
Joanna and Alan first crossed paths when she appeared on his Canadian talk show doing press. “I have known Joanna Cassidy for over 45 years.”
“Joanna was a guest star on ‘The Alan Hamel Show’ in the ’70s. She was a great guest, and it was a dynamic show. We liked each other, not romantically, but mainly with respect. Both of us were married at the time.”
Alan was married to Suzanne when she starred on Hollywood Wives with Joanna Cassidy. “I ran into her in the mid-’80s many times during the production of Jackie Collins’ Hollywood Wives. It was very cordial.”
Alan’s in a new era:
After 45 years of marriage to iconic actress/tv personality, Suzanne ‘thigh master’ Somers, she gave her loving husband/business partner her blessing to move on. “Don’t mope around. Live your life. We will see one another after you cross over.”
As for how Alan and Joanna (who played Rose in Don’t Tell Mom The Babysitter Is Dead) reconnected, it was Alan’s son, Stephen, who played matchmaker. “My son met Joanna at a screening. After a long conversation, he suggested to Joanna that she and I would get along and should meet. Stephen did not know we knew each other.”
While Alan isn’t sure where his romance with Joanna will go, he has nothing but praise for the actress and model.
They were wearing matching Malibu Beach Inn baseball caps as they grabbed lunch at Broad Street Oyster Company.
