Love Is Blind‘s Danielle Ruhl took to her Instagram story to share a car vlog (don’t worry … she wasn’t driving) detailing why she filed to divorce Nick Thompson.

The bottom line:

Danielle explained what the catalyst was for initiating the split from her fiance from LiB season 2.

“It really did come down to just personality compatibility differences.”

She continued, “I think that’s what makes it even harder … I kind of live in this state of denial where it’s like, ‘But we love each other.’ You can still love each other and still try your best to move on. It’s hard, it’s very hard.”

According to Danielle, things got worse with Nick once the divorce process began.

“We were very amicable and civil at first and that’s why people were confused with some of the back and forth that happened but going through the divorce process added even more stress and it’s tough on both of us I’m sure.”

Things turned “south” for Danielle when people close to her interacted with online posts that negatively discussed her mental health. The LiB2 star was explicit that Nick wasn’t involved in the trolling.

Nick’s lack of response to Danielle sharing she was being bullied online about her mental health led to the demise of their short marriage.

“When we decided to separate, it was a mutual decision, like, we talked about it [and it] wasn’t just a spur-of-the-moment thing, even though it seems like that. Like, we tried really hard, and again, we were just like, ‘You know what? I think it is in our best interest and I need to get out of the what -if-mode because hindsight’s 20/20, right?!’ It’s tough.”
